T1’s ADC revealed the real reason why KT Rolster chose T1 as their opponent in the 2023 LCK Summer Playoffs.
At the 2023 LCK Summer Playoffs, KT Rolster surprised many people by choosing T1 as their opponent in Round 2. Initially, it was thought that KT wanted to choose T1 because of the performance of Faker and his teammates in the second leg of the round.
However, the reality is completely different.
KT won the top 1 position in the group stage and had the right to choose their own opponent in round 2 of the Playoffs
However, they had to pay the price for their choice with a 2-3 defeat to Faker and his teammates.
With this victory, T1 has moved on to Round 3 – Winning Branch.
KT should have taken advantage of their achievements to choose an easier opponent in Round 2, thereby maintaining their position in the winning bracket and increasing their chances of winning the championship.
A part of KT fans think that if they had chosen HLE, the result would have been different.
Faker’s return has great significance for T1
In the post-match interview with KT Rolster, T1’s ADC Lee `Gumayusi` Min-hyeong spoke up in defense of KT Rolster.
“At the end of the day, I believe KT picked us because they thought we would eventually have to face each other.
Gumayusi spoke up to defend KT Rolster
Evaluating KT Rolster’s bottom lane duo, Gumayusi said that they are very good at competing in the laning phase and controlling minion waves quite well.
When asked about Faker’s importance after his return, Gumayusi affirmed that the captain brought a completely different atmosphere to the team:
`I cannot deny that T1 becomes completely different when Faker is playing and not playing. The members’ individual performance went down (when Faker was injured) and it started to pick up again when Faker returned.`
