Although we know that VakifBank is a very strong opponent, this does not mean that the Vietnamese women’s volleyball team cannot surprise a strong opponent.

The Vietnamese women’s volleyball team under the name Sport Center 1 will have its first match, which is also the opening match of the World Club Volleyball Championship, at 1:00 p.m. Vietnam time today against rival VakifBank –

Doan Thi Lam Oanh and her teammates are aiming for historic milestones: competing in a club-level international tournament for the first time, getting their first points, and beyond that, their first winning set or even their first victory.

VakifBank is a name that is not unfamiliar to Vietnamese volleyball fans in particular and the world in general.

The bank team has won the CEV Champions League – (European Cup) 6 times, in which, the championship in the recent 2022-2023 season helped this team win tickets to Hangzhou, China to participate.

Although not in really good form in recent matches, VakifBank is still a very strong team at this year’s World Club Cup (Photo: instagram @vakifbanksk)

At this tournament, VakifBank is also the most successful team with 4 `triumphs` in 2013, 2017, 2018 and 2021. Last season, they also reached the final and won.

In domestic tournaments, VakifBank has won the national championship 12 times, won the national cup 9 times and won the national super cup 5 times.

Coach Giovanni Guidetti also has extremely high-quality people in his hands, such as striker Gabi Guimaraes, assistant Zehra Gunes, passer Jordan Thompson, etc.

On the other side of the front line, this is the first time Vietnamese women’s volleyball under the name Sport Center 1 has the opportunity to represent clubs on the continent to participate in this most prestigious tournament in the world.

We also do not have the best force when the main attacker – captain Tran Thi Thanh Thuy is absent due to contract obligations with the parent team PFU BlueCats, while the top offensive player in the National Championship – Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen is absent.

The ability of striker Tran Tu Linh and opponent Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh to play is still open, especially in Kieu Trinh’s case, the chance for `Ngao` to play in this tournament is very low.

However, in a world-class tournament, where players will fight hard for their national colors, if VakifBank is reckless, they will have to pay a very high price.

We hope that our players will fight with more than 200% of their strength and high determination to make a mark for Vietnamese women’s volleyball on the international stage in the match taking place at 1:00 p.m. today (13/
